Marilyn is dead. Her boyfriend Sam killed her and Detective Rooney is trying to prove it.
I didn't mean to kill her. That's what he said to the cops when they found my dead body, well the last pieces.

My name is Marilyn Thompson, and I'm currently dead. It's June 19th, 2023, my twenty-second birthday. Bullshit right? On my birthday. You probably think death is scary. You're right. “Sir, what happened?” Detective Rooney Marvin asks Sam, my so-called “boyfriend”, or should I say ex now? Never mind that, let's listen. “I-i was just, just-” He says. “What? You were just what” Rooney interrupts. How can he be so stupid? “I was coming home from work…” Liar. “and I walked in, she-she was just-just” he chokes up. And Oscar goes to Sam Willinger. “I called for her and she didn't answer. I thought she was sleeping so I turned the TV on, and I sat on the couch” He says. Dumbass. “You didn't check to see if she was sleeping, you just assumed, why? When your girlfriend is chopped into pieces hung by string on your bedroom wall, and her name written in blood” Rooney asks and Sam hesitates “I'm not lying”. “Sir we're gonna need to take you down to the station,” Rooney says as he attaches the handcuffs to Sam’s wrists. There was a little blood on Sam’s boots.

My body is currently on the 15th floor of Atlantic Apartments, New Jersey. Dragged across the bathroom to the hallway, all the way to my bedroom, and somehow I guess it was an accident that each of my limbs were cut off and hung on the wall, and my name was written with blood. Do you guys want to start from the beginning?

Me and Sam went to high school together, and we were friends our junior year and dated our senior year, and so on. I never liked Sam, you know romantically. So I always kept him, my friend. Everyone always told me I should date him because he was “perfect” and he liked me, well he wasn't. Just because he has green eyes, and long brown hair, tan skin, and muscles, doesn't make him perfect. Well anyways, we went to a party at my friend Tracy’s house one night. I was with Sam for basically the whole party. We were sitting on the couch and he just looked into my eyes and kissed me, and for some reason, I kissed back. So we started dating. He was great, and I mean great. He would drive me to the most beautiful places in New York, even though we lived in Jersey. He would surprise me with a little gift every day,and hake me on random dates. We were inseparable, but then something happened.

Rooney pulls Sam out of the car. Sam says he has to pee really bad, but he was looking at his boot for basically the whole ride to the station. “It’s the first hallway, fourth door, to, the left” Rooney says annoyed as they walk up the steps, and into the station.

Sam goes to the bathroom and as soon as he gets in, he finds something to clean his boot. He finds Clorox wipes under the sink and grabs two. He scrubs his shoe as hard as he can and rinses the Clorox wipes until the blood is completely drained out of them, then he throws them in the trash. “Fuck, I can't do this” He says looking in the mirror. Pathetic. How is he so pathetic, God I wish I could've killed him first. Rooney knocks on the door, “Sam, you need to come with me for interrogation, I ain't got time for messin’ around” he says and Sam walks out, follows Rooney, and into the interrogation room. There’s one chair, a table, and it's sure as hell dark. “You said you thought she was sleeping. Correct?” Rooney asks. “Y-Yes” Sam answers nervously. “But you wouldn’t go check on your girlfriend when you got home from work. Let her know you're there? And when you called she never answered, so tell me again, you just thought she was asleep?” He hesitates. “Before I answer any of your nagging bullshit questions, I want an attorney”. “Oh gladly, but just know, I'm the best Detective in my divisi and in Jersey, I might not have proof yet, but you will go down for this” He says and walks out “Fucking asshole” he mumbles. Rooney looks through the glass at Sam one more time “Could you get his attorney here by six or seven, and make sure he doesn't leave” Rooney asks his partner Fin, and walks out.

“Sir, here are the photos of the crime scene” Jaclyn says to Rooney. “But we found some more… uhhm... unusual things”. “Such as?” he says. “Each limb was cut through with such precision, most likely a crosscut blade saw, and some of the limbs are old, like probably a week or two. But the blood written on the walls wasn’t a complete DNA match to Marilyn’s but partially, it was a match to a…..uhhm Saige Kramer. And there is a missing leg, arm, and head” she says. “Who is Saige Kramer?”. “I have no idea, she has no relation to Sam or Marilyn, and she doesn't pop up in the system, it's possible she could be undocumented”. “Looks like now we have two cases. God this day just gets better. Wait, and there is still missing limbs, we need to find those, maybe they could be more helpful since they are hidden”. “If it helps at all, there was a partial footprint with blood in the hallway, I have Reemer working on it, it should get to you sometime today, approximately an hour or two” she says as she hands the evidence to Rooney.

After a while Same stopped doing his little gifts and trips all the time. At first, I thought it was because he was tight with money, but he was avoiding me too. “You need to stop being all over me so much, it's annoying” He would say. “Then break up with me” was my response one day, and he flipped, I think I triggered something. He would say, “No, I'm the only one that can have you, if I can't have you I won't let anyone else have you”. At first, I laughed because I thought he was joking, like you know being sarcastic but he didn't think it was funny. He grabbed me by the shoulders and shook me for a second. “I'm serious, you might not wanna’ think about leaving me, it won't end well” So I was too scared to leave. I thought that if I just cooperated he would be ok, and maybe one day I would find a way to leave him, but I guess death did it for me.

“Hello?” Reemer says on the phone. “Detective Rooney, I'm calling for the results on the footprint, Jaclyn told me to wait about an hour or two, but I was just wondering for sure when?”
“Well, if you come to the lab I could probably go over the results with you right now” Reemer answers. “Thanks, Reemer, I’ll be over in 10” Rooney hangs up and throws his coat on as he walks to Divison 3 lab.

"Hello, Detective" Reemer says in his normal raspy, and deep tone. "Hey, Reemer. So what have we got?" He asks as her walks over to him and the screen. "So, the footprint was partial, so I couldn't get a great read. But I would estimate that it's about a size 12 in men's. Most likely, Timberland boots. The blood from the print is a perfect match to Saige Kramer, again." He says as he pulls up his results. "I need to find out why there is another woman's blood involved, could this be more than one murder or an accomplice? Could Saige be helping whoever did this, maybe she offered to sacrifice her blood, or maybe this person is just borderline insane and felt like using someone else's blood." Rooney says. "I did dig a little deeper into the name Saige Kramer. I found no results in the system, but I did find a missing poster at Walmart, down Albine's Street. And I found a social media account, on Instagram. But as Jaclyn said, she could be undocumented, so this is all I have." Reemer says, and he inches closer to Rooney. Rooney clears his throat and looks at Reemer for a quick second, then he grabs the papers out of his hand. "Thanks, Reemer" He says. "My pleasure, Rooney" He says and then there is just an awkward pause. "Uhhm, I'm gonna go, Sam Willinger's attorney should be here". "See you soon" Reemer says with a slight smile. "See ya'" Rooney chuckles and waves bye.
