Like stone, our rights could be chipped away. |
A/N- This was a poem I made in 2018 in response to a harmful bill titled H.R. 620 ‘ADA Education And Reform Act Of 2017’ which would have, if it had passed, rolled back the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition, this poem was created when President #45 was in power, it was a horrifying time to say the least. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Like chipping stone it all starts with the small stuff. Chip. Chip. Chip. Rollbacks. Chip. Chip. Chip. Additional hurdles. Chip. Chip. Chip. The sands of time flow. Chip. Chip. Chip. Cracks show. Chip. Chip. Chip. Weakness sown. Chip. Chip. Chip. Bit by bit it is destroyed. Chip. Chip. Chip. The heart is exposed. Chip. Chip. Chip. And the center, the heart, is torn out. What remains crumbles to dust blown in the harsh winds. Not satisfied the vile ones go on to chip the next to nothing. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A/N- Some didn’t think much of the bill that could have rolled back the Americans with Disabilities Act, but it could be just the start. They had already came for the rights of some groups. And they could, and likely will, come after more. Which is why we have to be on guard so our rights aren’t eroded by monsters in power. |
