Brief description |
Known to be the man who sawed off the devil's tongue Evidence shown, into his neck it was sewn It flickered and fought when he was near large treasures of gold and silver He claimed it whispered to him in his sleep Respected amongst a posse of thieves and demons Never accepted by any class of man Stalked by light and flushed out in the darkness For it lead the hunters to them Never to hide Twilights graced them with subtlety, and respect Maggots and flies did dare To rake and rot out his stitches To have this tool took a lot of care And it did cause him to strain while swallowing A sizzling hiss would emerge from the tongue whenever the devil was near Never hidden And never forgotten Always scourging up fuel and devouring lives in the pursuit of freedom But the devil would have his tongue Benighted, though For every night beneath the twilight Laughter from their resting places did bellow As beggars and thieves most certainly did brag "The devil's tongue we have, and he shall never get. Just listen to it now as it tries to flick and spit. If the monsters of the light and the gentlemen of the dark do come. They better raise a fist. They better bring a gun" |
