When I was a child in grade school,
April Fool's Day pranks were cool
As I grew up and matured,
I thought that the pranks were absurd.
I went to work in a college compute lab,
The younger folks thought that pranks were fab,
They would pull a prank on everyone,
So I just had to join the fun.
I thought that my pranks were lame,
But everyone else liked them all the same;
Finally I realized my sense of humor,
Was that of a baby boomer.
Now that I am seventy-seven,
Pranks and puns have become the leaven,
That encourages my muse to write,
The puns that make me laugh on a sleepless night.
