Her past, My future. Pain that stays but eventually a future of pleasure.
Another year older
Another day closer

You tell me you hate me
Then you tell me you love me
You ask “who hits you”
Then you slap me across the face
You tell me to leave
Then beg me to stay

Another year older
Another day closer

I say I’ll never go back
But I have not even left
I prepare what to say
But the words never leave my tongue
I will face my problems
Just not today

Another year older
Another day closer

She wants to live her life her way
But she will do what he says
She knows it's just like before
But she's too scared to leave
She hates she's in the same position
But she's comfortable with the pain

Another year older
Another day closer

She blames the man who raised her
Who taught her that the beatings equaled love
She blames the mom who left her
After using her body for pleasure
She blames herself for all the bad
It should have been easy to ask for help

Another year older
Another day closer

My future, her past
My story that was bitter
She's going to turn sweet
Another year older, another day closer
To the life I have always dreamed of
And the one that she lives
