Flash Fiction - "Do you have any proof?"
Matilda wandered through her front door, cheers and laughter could be heard coming from the living room. She poked her head in to find her two daughters, Melissa and Sabrina watching football on the television. Their team had just scored and they were dancing around the coffee table.

Matilda continued on to the kitchen where she found her husband Marcus, who was baking away as usual. Even though he now had strands of grey in his luscious thick black hair, Matilda still thought he was still as handsome the first time she saw him those twenty or so years ago. Marcus shimmied left and right as the music on the radio played, lip sync to any part he knew. Matilda leaned on the door frame watching, she smiled to herself. Everything was perfect.

The feeling of happiness faded when the figure she would have hoped to never see again appeared by her. "It's time to go." They said.

"A few more minutes, please."

"I'm sorry Matilda."

Tears began to swell in her eyes. "Are they going to be ok?"

"They will be in time."

"Do you have any proof?"

"You will just have to trust me."

There was a knock on the front door. Marcus looked up from his mixing bowl, directly at Matilda. He smiled and walked towards her. Matilda stretched out her arms ready to hold him but she phased right through him.

"It's time to go." The figure said.

Marcus opened the front door, a police officer with a solemn express stood on the step. "Mr Fletcher?" The officer said.

"Yes, is everything ok?"

As those words left Marcus' mouth, Matilda faded from the world.
