TCG Pokémon given reason.
In the TCG, two dimensions were colliding into each other, creating war between them. To stop this, Mega Alakazam used his vast power to unite the colliding dimensions.

Due to the dimensions colliding, there is Dimensional Energy everywhere. People use special Dimensional Energy Bands (or DEBs) to harness this energy.
Note: Card types that do not exist are those which I could not think of a way to incorporate. If I have missed any, please inform me. GP will be given as thanks.

Amazing Rare Pokémon are some Legendary and Mythical Pokémon that are capable of charging Dimensional Energy for an attack equivalent to a GX Attack.

Ancient Trait Pokémon are Pokémon that have somehow learnt to use Dimensional Energy for beneficial effects. These effects can not be nullified and are as follows.
Traits: α Recovery gain more healing; α Growth take less time to charge attacks; Ω Barrage are quicker on the attack; Ω Barrier are unaffected by environmental hazards; Δ Plus do not exist; Δ Evolution are fully evolved Pokémon that help other Pokémon evolve sooner than normal; Δ Wild have greater resistances; θ Stop protect themselves from enemy Pokémon Abilities; θ Double and θ Max do not exist.

Break Evolution is when a Pokémon coats itself in Dimensional Energy for stronger attack and defence. While in this state, they gain a golden aura.

Crystal Pokémon are unstable Delta Pokémon. Please visit "Crystal Pokémon IndexOpen in new Window. for more information.

Dark Pokémon, not to be confused with dark types, are akin to Shadow Pokémon but come from abuse.

Delta Pokémon are normal, everyday pokémon that have been mutated by Dimensional Energy and changed into different types. Please visit "Delta Pokémon IndexOpen in new Window. for more information.

EX Pokémon hatch already fully evolved and are slightly stronger than normal Pokémon. They are the only Pokémon capable of Mega Evolving naturally.

Fossil Pokémon are the same.

Gold Star Pokémon are shiny Pokémon that can use Dimensional Energy to boost their abilities, leading to strange and unique effects. Gold Star Pokémon may be born in a basic state, an evolved state, or fully evolved state.

GX Pokémon uses the DEB to unleash a powerful attack similar to a Z-Move.

Legends Pokémon are simply Legendary Pokémon.

Light Pokémon are Dark Pokémon (not Shadow Pokémon) that have their hearts opened. Though not as strong, they fight harder than normal.

LV.X Pokémon are Pokémon that have learnt to absorb external Dimension Energy for a temporary power boost.

Pokémon ex are a subset of Pokémon-ex that learnt from LV.X Pokémon. Upon fully evolving, their unstable Dimensional Energy grants a power boost equal to GX Pokémon. Some Pokémon ex are capable of Terastallization without aid.

Pokémon-ex are Pokémon that are born with innate but unstable Dimensional Energy. Once fully evolved (assuming they evolve), the energy grants a minor, yet substantial, boost in power. They are the precursors to EX Pokémon.

Prime Pokémon appear to be normal pokémon, but once fully evolved, they become supercharged with Dimensional Energy that's been building and become extremely powerful.

Prism Star Pokémon are Legendary Pokemon capable of burning up Dimensional Energy during battle for a boost of power.
Note: Some Ditto have been seen capable of this. However, should a Ditto transform during this state, it will be unable to change back.

Radiant Pokémon are shiny Pokémon that may be born in a basic state, evolved state, or fully evolved state, and are unable to evolve. Radiant Pokémon do not get on with each other.

Regional Variants are the same. There can be Radiant Regional Variants and Shining Regional Variants.

Shining Pokémon are just shiny pokémon.

SP Pokémon do not exist. At most, they are specially trained for a specific trainer's strategy.

Tag Team GX Pokémon work only in Double Battles. When together, they share energy from the DEB for a Tag Team Attack.

Team Aqua, Magma, and Plasma Pokémon do not exist.

Ultra Beasts are the same. There can be GX (and Tag Team GX) Ultra Beasts, but no V Ultra Beast.

V Pokémon are naturally boosted by dimensional energy they were born with.

VMAX Pokémon are V Pokémon that learn to mix their internal Dimensional Energy with external Dimensional Energy to, essentially, Dynamax.

VSTAR Pokémon are rare, fully evolved V Pokémon that learn to use the DEB with some of its own Dimensional Energy to unleash a powerful attack.
Note: A VSTAR Pokémon will leave enough energy in the DEB for a GX attack.

V-UNION Pokémon are Giant Pokémon, akin to Alola's Totem Pokémon, Paldea's Titan Pokémon, and Hisui's Noble Pokémon.
