How dancing with a partner or by oneself can be spiritual, invigorating and emotional
DANCING MAKES ME FEEL BETTER

“Let them praise his name in the dance:”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭149‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭21‬:‭11‬

“And David danced before the Lord with all his might;.”
‭‭2 Samuel‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭KJV‬‬

As you can read in the Bible verses above the writers (inspired by the Holy Spirit) advocate dance.

As a young Christian I was told dancing was evil because the devil used it to create thoughts of lust.

It wasn’t until I read these verses that I realized the person who taught me that was wrong. Dancing can be beautiful and uplifting.

When I hear Meghan sing this song it makes me come to the conclusion that I also feel better, and happy when I dance.

First, dancing can be like an easy exercise. It burns calories, raises your heart rate and gets endorphins going.

Second, dancing can be a form of networking. Being at an open dance allows one to have several dance partners for different dances. Like speed dating on your feet.

Third, dancing can be romantic when you dance with a significant other. By slow dancing you can feel your partner close to you like a giant hug.

Fourth, dancing can be fun as you try to match your rhythm to the rhythm of your partner.

I often danced with my wife to our favorite songs, fast and slow. A special step OR a misstep could bring on a smile or laughter.

I read in the verse from Samuel above that David danced alone. I remember my trip to Spain where I stopped at a dance hall and saw dozens of people dancing by themselves. For David it was spiritual, for those dancing that night it was cultural. For me it was inspirational.

After that I would often dance with my children as separately we enjoyed ourselves. My children would laugh and smile in happiness. I would also at the site of them and how it made me feel better.

The whole scope of dancing is to make one feel better, by enjoying the music and the affects of the dance on your body.

Finally, I say to young people: If you don’t dance, you need to. If you do dance, you need to do it more. Coming from a 70 year old man who is physically unable to dance, and who has lost his precious dance partner, it is the best advice I can give for a happy life, and a better life.
