Ron and Hermione are alone with a creature in the dark forest under a full moon |
"You're making a mess of this spell! Shove over and let me do it." Ron looked at Hermione through slitted eyes and took a calming breath while stepping aside and tripping over a gnarled tree root. "It's a work in progress." he said doubtfully. He looked down at the creature infront of them. It was quite small, about the size of a boarder collie, had shaggy hair, had very sharp nails and… it was stirring in its sleep. Truthfully, he was glad that Hermione was taking over because he wasn't exactly sure his particular brand of sleeping-spell was working. The moon was getting higher in the sky. He absolutely did not want the thing waking up while they were alone with it in the dark forest under a full moon. Ron took out the silver nail, and placed it carefully next to the silver hammer and saw, which were right beside the small creature's body. Everything looked ready now/ Hermione was still waving her wand around in fancy zig zags and swirls which Ron couldn’t quite follow but which seemed to be working because the creature was fast asleep again. "Lucky we found it in time." Hermione said haughtily once she had finished the spell (Ron sometimes hated how she gloated when she was right. And he hated even more how often she was right) "The howling was driving people nuts!". They both fell silent as they looked down at the creature. They. weren't excited about this case. The creature was so small. So young. But there was no way around it and it had to be done. "I do wish there were a less... violent approach" Ron whispered. "I know, Ron. But we can't have the thing running wild every full moon howling like a Banshee. And it’s asleep. She won't feel a thing" Hermione sat down next to the Werewolf and opened the pup's mouth while picking up the silver nail. Ron picked up the hammer and handed it to Hermione. Gently, Hermione chiseled out the rotten molar from the back of the Werewolf pup's mouth. Thankfully the saw wasn't necessary to remove the tooth, and after the cavity had been cleaned and a numbing spell had been cast, they both looked down happily. The pup was slowly opening her eyes and her tongue was investigating the small hole in her gum. "The biggest draw back of being a Werewolf I reckon" Ron mused, "only silver works" ____________________________________ Words: 410 Written for:
