A short story of a teenager and their pet cat |
I've always had a passion for animals, though I hadn't really felt the friendly bond I do now with my cat. It's like a dog being a mans best friend. I'm very lucky I found my cat when I badly needed him. Eight years ago where it all began, my mother was out helping my elderly neighbor. My neighbor mentioned a kitten she had come across, they were starved and clearly being mistreated by their previous owner. She had mentioned the poor kitten had been so hungry he ate pancakes. My mother ended up taking the kitten in. Me and my brother were both so excited. Though we had been told we probably weren't going to be keeping the kitten. We had to do a quick vet trip before we even tried to relocate the kitten. Luckily the kitten had no microchip and was fully healthy. We kept the kitten in the garage due to not knowing if my grandparents would allow us to keep him with our dog. I had gone to the mall with my grandpa and came across a beanie baby of a tuxedo cat. The same breed of the kitten. My grandpa bought it as a memory for me before informing my mother we could keep him. We first were going to call him white socks due to his white paws. Though one day my brother was sat in his room watching "Star Wars" it was the end credits and our kitten was being very curious. Sat next to my brother, he ended up pawing the screen. His paw landing on "Obi Wan Kenobi." Which is how he soon came to be "Obi Cat Kenobi.". "Nobies" for short. Kenobi always comforted me when I needed it, always slept near me when I was scared at night. He was right by my side when I was crying. He's even some of my favorite memories, how he used to lunge at my legs before I went to school. He would even meow and throw a fit when I had to leave. Kenobi even got along very well with our dog. They were best friends, snuggled together on the couch and even played together. Now eight years later Kenobi is still always there for me, he's sleeping on my bed right now as I write this. He's helped me through the move across seas, he's keep me company on the dark nights. I'm thankful I got to keep this bundle of joy. |
