An underwater civilization collides violently with earthlings.
A long-submerged village surfaced again
A race of sea creatures was left on land
A committee of humans came out to meet them
A leader of the creatures came forward to greet them

A meeting was arranged, hands were shook
A human said that this village you took
A long time ago belonged to us
A sea creature began to cuss

A long time ago this land sea had claimed
A long time ago none of you remained
A long time ago we had settled this land
A long time ago where was your demand

A shot was fired, weapons were brandished
A war of fire and water unleashed
A half-hour it took for the fire to douse the water
A half-hour it took for the sea creatures to cease to matter

A committee was formed, hands were shook
A human said from these heathens, no disobedience we can brook
A prison should be fitted out for them
A battery of tortures should be meted out to them

A host of dissenting voices were heard
A hand was raised to silence the herd
A man of letters provided clarity
A civilization is not built on barbarity

A feat of oration was witnessed
A slew of splendid words addressed
A trance soon fell on the crowd
A civilization it was to be, everybody avowed

A committee was formed, hands were shook
A plethora of different stands they took
A common theme that emerged was rehabilitation
A host of voices supported integration

A decree was passed and the prisoners released
A school was set up and education received
A course on human norms was taught
A new chapter on human-creature partnership was wrought

A long time passed with nary an incident
A politician called the integration the greatest achievement
A fight broke out between a human child and a creature child
A fight that at first was thought to be mild

A class discussion had turned into an argument
A shouting match had formed over whose god was more dominant
A rift arose which spread far and wide
A whole school was bifurcated by the divide

A bevy of efforts were made to quell the fight
A number of arguments spread over whose god was right
A human panelist on TV defended the fire god
A sea creature-panelist spoke in favor of the water god

A couple was iced, another was burnt
A situation of war had returned
A war it was but an unequal one
A militia of sea creatures had soon won

A militia which knew how to use the fire arms
A knowledge they used in combination with water arms
A revision of fortunes had come to the fore
A different treatment was in store

A decree was passed to eliminate the defeated at random
A decree which was followed with swift abandon
A war had occurred between A and B
A war in which A was not to be.
