If you’ve ever followed the plot of a book, movie, or TV show where the helpless townsfolk are up against it until a mysterious stranger steps in and makes their cause his own, you know what’s at play here. They are stories of brave men and women drawing a line in the sand with no expectation of reward; they are, quite simply, the heroes we all wish we could be in our daily lives. Yes, they're predictable. Yes, they're cliched. Yes, they've been done to death. Would you care to read another one? ...
