A storm rolls in

Heat rises off the streets
Summer storm staggers across the sky
Yesterday’s sorrows sink deep
Pale echoes of days gone past
Tumultuous thunder tantrums and tumbles through
Heat lightning sparks upon the striking hour
Raindrops fall heavy on pavement and grass
Striking leaf and branch, roof and window
While heat rises off the streets
