A funny short story based on the theme 'Alien'. |
| Hi! Iâm a female alien (thatâs what you call us, right?) from a planet in the Andromeda Galaxy. Iâm here to explore new connectionsâand ensure my kind continues to, you knowâŚexpand our horizons. Thatâs what was written on her dating app profile. As a sci-fi nerd, I didnât even hesitate to swipe rightâalthough her photos were just moody spaceship shots and cosplay-style silhouettes. Honestly, that kind of weird just made her hotter. And here she is now, sipping her cup of Flat White, looking exactly like the dream girl Iâve always fantasised about: long, pale blonde hair, almost glowing skin, sharp baby blue eyes, and a smile that hasnât let up since she sat down. âSo yeah, I came to this place, like, 168 hours ago. There were twelve of us, and Iâm the lucky oneâI ended up here, in this region with fantastic drinks,â she says, after a long ramble about her âtaskâ as an alien. I love sci-fi, but⌠this might be pushing it. She still hasnât mentioned a job, a hometown, or literally any normal human thing. Maybe sheâs just eccentric. Or maybe sheâs completely nuts. No way someone this gorgeous is also sane, right? âSo whatâs your plan?â I ask, swirling whatâs left of my drink. âAre you gonna release this story as a novel, comic, game, a movie?â She blinks. âWhat story?â âThe story youâve been telling me. It sounds like it could really take offâif you adapted it into the right medium.â She nods thoughtfully. âWell, Iâve been telling the story through social media and dating apps.â I laugh, trying to hide how serious I was. âThatâs not enough. I mean, if you took this intergalactic stuff and made it mainstream, you could be rich. And famous!â She tilts her head, eyes narrowing slightly. âFamous⌠does that mean more of your people would know about my people and our mission?â I pause â...uh, yeah. Definitely.â She lights up. âAnd with exposure like that, it should be easier for me to meet humans with high-quality seeds!â âUmmm⌠I guess?â She leans forward, smiling widely. âOkay then! Where should I start?â Suddenly, my phone buzzesâitâs my mate Jared. I almost sigh out loud. âSorry, just a sec,â I say, already halfway to answering as I step away from the table. âYo, whoâs that sheila youâre with? Sheâs a beaut!â Jaredâs voice blasts through the speaker, which immediately sets off alarm bells. I glance around, keeping my voice low. âWhat? Are you at the cafe?â âYeah! Iâm lining up at the counterâcan ya see me?â I lean sideways, peering past the plant near the front window. âOhhhh, yep. There you are.â Jaredâs voice cuts in. âYou lucky bastard. Whereâd ya meet her? Man, I donât know how they change their hair and eye colour without contacts or dye, but on the whim like that? Now thatâs wild.â I blink. âWhat do you mean?â âThe chick right in front of ya. Curly red hair, green eyes, and cheekbones for days⌠now thatâs my dream girl right there.â I hang up and lower the phone. Then I glance at her⌠âŚand freeze. Sheâs still smiling. Same seat, same cup. But now she looks just like how Jared described. I exhale slowly and swallow. âWhy are you looking at me like that?â she asks after five minutes. â...You really are an alien.â She shrugs. âYeah? Thatâs what Iâve been telling you the whole time.â âWell fuck meâŚâ Her expression brightens. âFinally! That was my task all along. So⌠my place or yours? And please, no protection.â |
