Second Outline for Mystery novel

1. Lewis is arrested at 10a.m. on the day of the murder. He is crying and says he isn't being treated fairly when brought before the Sheriff. Surprised that anyone would think he is a wife-killer. He insists it was a burglar.
2. Molly and Grace are called into an interrogation room and questioned about the murder of Elizabeth Fuller.
3. Eliza Wolf's version of that night. She comes out of her room, sees John standing on the top of the stairs. A voice, low and hard to distinguish, says, "Don't come down, old man, or you will get it too."
4. A classmate of Grace from Pike Street School comes into the station with her mom and tells how Grace told everyone that Lewis had come to her mother the night before, fighting and threatening.
Interview with seven-year-old son, John. He doesn't know anything despite lying in bed next to his mother when she is killed.
5. A horse dealer gives a statement that Lewis had told him he hadn't roomed with his wife for several years. Lewis denies this.
6. Lewis is visited by his father the first day in jail. Reunion after not speaking for four years. Lewis convinces him that he is innocent.
7. Trial and sentencing. Sentenced 15 Jan 1907.
8. In the prison, he is making shirts in the factory by Feb 1907.
9. Flashback: Making amends with Elizabeth, after severing ties with Molly, the night before and falling asleep together for the first time in two years.
10. Flashback to consequences of the week in Chicago leading to Lewis breaking off with Molly. His family was threatened by her ex-husband.
11. In Aug 1909, he is granted 30 days of furlough.
12. In 1910, Eliza visits him in Indiana State Prison since he won't return her letters or ask about his son. Convinces him that she doesn't blame him.
13. In Feb 1911-he is granted 5 days of furlough.
14. In May 1914, he is granted 5 days of furlough.
15. In March 1915, he is granted 5 days of furlough.
16. A series of six pardons is then denied. During each parole hearing, he is granted some time out of prison to get his affairs in order. Instead, he tries to investigate his wife's murder.
17. On the 19th of March, 1919, Eliza died and Lewis is granted a furlough to attend the funeral.
18. In September, 1921, he is granted 60 days of furlough.
19. On the 2nd of February, 1922, Lewis is pardoned by Governor M'Cray.
20. In 1923, Lewis conducts a riding academy in Grand Beach, Indiana until 1925.
21. On the 15th of September, 1925, he opens up Sunnymede Riding Academy through the Studebacker Stables in South Bend, Indiana.
22. Grace comes to Lewis at the Riding Academy and tells of her mother's confession.
