There it was hidden underneath the sand,
I picked it up and held it in my hand,
A medium four-hole button of tan,
that belonged to an old lady with a wrinkled hand,
She had twenty-three grandkids,
and due to spills, her cups always had lids,
Her five year-old grandchild came to give her a hug,
When the twelve year-old noticed a giant bug,
There it rested on the shoe of her grandma,
And it began to move to close to the grandpa,
Then she took a swat at this nasty fly,
She hit it and made its wings go wry,
Then she saw another, bigger crawling beast,
Then swatted so on grandpa it wouldn't feast,
But she missed and fell on her elderly grandparents,
And this button fell off where it was hardly evident,
So now it lies here in my hand,
Because I found it in the sand,
I'll take it home for my mom to see,
And keep it as a secret between you and me,
Then I'll go to my room quietly,
Admiring my brand new button in my room's safety,
That I found hidden underneath the sand,
And then picked it up and held it in my hand.
