About a Palestinian and an Israeli friendship
Grabbing hands,
As they played,
Soccer madness,
Ran through the day.

Sunset came,
Their mothers called,
They smiled at each other,
Ate dinner and that was all.

They were soul brothers,
Best friends too,
While one was Muslim,
The other was Jew.

They ate their bread,
And they enjoyed their water,
Impatiently waiting,
For the fun tomorrow.

Tomorrow did come,
But they became distant,
They forgot who each other were,
They got lost without a hint.

One boys’ clan yelled at the other,
The other would throw stones,
They would get no where,
They would just break bones.

One was miserable,
The other in agony,
Avenge ran through their blood,
There was so much for them to heave.

It had been so long,
Since both had played with their brother,
How much they forgot about each others fun,
And comfort they played in each other.

Their hearts became colder,
And on a hot day,
One boy joined a riot,
And proudly shot away.

He did it because they were the enemy,
Or maybe because of self defense,
Or maybe because he was told to,
This is a reason which made no sense.

He heard a torn cry,
And it shook him of fear,
He didn’t realize,
He shot someone so dear.

While the other men fought,
Fought with their might,,
He walked slowly realizing
He killed someone that night.

He never did such a thing,
And he walked closer to the cries,
His face worried like a child,
He came to look at who died.

The first women he recognized,
Was the mother of his old friend,
She cowered in grief,
Over her sons bloody hand.

Surge of shocks,
Went through his veins,
He looked in disgust,
He basked in his pain.

He sat slowly,
Still as a rock,
Tears went to realize what he had done,
Is this who he fought?

Now think closely,
who was who,
you think you know?
then the problem is also in you.
