"WHAT CAN'T BE CURED MUST BE ENDURED"
My father, Chester A. Kezer, Jr.

All the years of growing up
Were not the very best -
We didn't have a lot of stuff;
Sometimes were shunned by the rest!

There were eight other children;
Our life style was quite meager!
But my father had some words
That made us kind of eager -

To strive to make life better
And we did, in many ways -
The words he said to us
I'll remember all my days.

"What can't be cured must be endured"
Then he taught us all to work
Hard as we could to get ahead
And not find a need to shirk.

The boys went into the service
With honor and pride to serve;
The girls: a mother, teacher, nurse,
And a soldier with some nerve.

Facing life for sixty years,
I still recall his quote -
When he gave that gem of advice
I often still take note.

Now we can make life better,
If we try our very best;
We still try so hard to cure
And then endure the rest.

With thanks to my father
Born 1883, Died 1969
