The Prompt: Write a free verse, 20 lines max. on the Written word. WRITTEN WORDS Terrifying to some and simple to others Subject, Object, Predicate Noun, Verb, Adverb, Adjective, Syntax, Context, so many terms ... Yet, they are the doors, To eons of knowledge gathered by man, Enter and thou shall be fulfilled, As by no other device. Conquests, Victories, Kingdoms, Magic, Discoveries, Inventions, Explorations, Ruminations, Speeches, Jokes, Dialogues, Stories, Poems, Odes, Ballads, Epics, Truths, Theologies, Fiction, Fact ... I look at the words and delight, They reveal so much to me, And yet when sleep comes with silent steps, I give in to it, and the word dissolves, Into dreams. Speak not into my dirty ears, and pass not before my smelly nose, Just serve it all to my eyes, to read evermore. © Dr. Taher Kagalwala Written for Final Round # 4 of: The Third Annual Anti-Slam 2003 Please rate it a 1.0 if you really like this bad poem, as it is written for a bad poetry contest!
