SHADOWS

SHADOWS

Imagination plays tricks with shadows,
Revealing a crouching cat, about to pounce;
The reality is, it's just an old rock,
But reality I will denounce!

An evergreen stands silent guard beside it,
With no desire for animation;
Letting the crouching cat lie yet awhile,
Keeping peace with God's creation.

Shadows come and go, changing nature
Into subtle tones of blue and gray;
For within my imagination
I find reality has no place to stay.
