Describing the fury of rivers flowing into sea, which remains calm like a sage
INNER PEACE: Editor's choice

Rivers are raging in fury,
Flowing through the hill and plain,
Cutting through the red and grey soil
In rocky, sandy terrain.

Fed by tropic torrential rain,
Sweeping all that comes in way,
Rivers spread out in the fields as
Water rises every day.

Every year during the monsoons,
The flood havoc does occur.
Yet this fate is accepted by
All farmers without demur.

They are not literate but they
Are highly spiritual.
They have inner peace, hence being
Perturbed is unusual.

They follow the Gita’s saying,
Krishna’s song celestial.
Second chapter, verse seventy,
Does give a message real:

“As in the sea all the rivers
Flow, yet it is unperturbed;
So only he is at peace who
Is by desire undisturbed”.

• GITA [literally, the song; pronounced Geethaa], is known as the heavenly or celestial song, the epitome and essence of whole ancient Hindu wisdom and philosophy, containing the eternal message for mankind, free from all religious clichés. It has been translated into all major languages of the world. It was recited by Lord Krishna, incarnation of God, to his warrior disciple Arjun, in response to the latter’s query about his duty in time of crisis. The verse 70, Chapter 2, can be viewed at http://www.bhagavad-gita.org/Gita/verse-02-69.html
