This is really long, so i don't mind if you don't read it. But please try to. |
Grunts and irregularly timed snores could distinctly be heard between, a wolf's painful gasps and moans. Grimwülf was a big and burly man, who definitely did not liked to be disturbed, but luckily his sleep was easy and uneventful, despite the obvious disturbance going on right beside his sleeping bag. Nowadays, it's important to be careful, but a wolvërn already have their own unconscious powers to deal with intruders or something else much worse that just happens to come by. Still, a pet wolf is something of a commodity these days. At around sunrise the next day, Grimwülf woke up and suddenly tackled his wolf. The wolf, who was so admiringly was called Bloodthirst, tried to dodge his master but was taken by surprise and failed. By now the two ferocious animals were tumbling through the deep lush forest. Finally, the master stationed himself atop his wolf and started prying his mouth open. The wolf howled submissively trying to show compliancy but instead the howl came out as one of pain. Grimwülf picked up a long stick and kicked him viciously until Bloodthirst was reduced to nothing but whimpers. Propping the stick in his wolf’s mouth, Grimwülf picked at something inside until a huge chunk of meat came flying out of the dog-smelling mouth. Immediately the whimpering and howling stopped. “There, that wasn’t so bad was it?” Grimwülf favoured his companion with a disgusted look. “You are such a young wimp.” However, even as he said these apparently cruel words, he threw Bloodthirst a boar’s leg, which was devoured instantly. The wolf was satiated and quickly sprang up to attack his master. They rolled around for a while until a rock was thrown right in between them. A small cadaverous looking man came out from behind a tree and sniggered, followed by an old, definitely out of shape, brown wolf, with gray strands of fur, sometimes patched could be seen on his body that have no fur at all. As an answer to his presence, he received a sneer of repulsiveness. As Grimwülf stood up and dusted himself off, he thought, “How could this miserable little wretch ever become a wolvërn?!” But out loud he said, "What the hell are you and your wolf doing here?" His question wasn't answered, instead was met with a demand, "I saw what you did to your wolf. Have you know respect for your partner?" “I have more respect for my partener, than I have for you. So back off, I know how to deal with Bloodthirst.” As if sensing his master’s rage Bloodthirst eagerly leapt toward the open neck of the opposing wolf. The two struggled for a while before Grimwülf finally stopped smirking, and walked over to the new man and quite soundly boxed him on the nose. All at once a huge ball of bodies came rushing down a steep hill, biting, scratching, and punching. And just as suddenly they stopped. A very powerful forcefield seemed to have restricted their movement to a bare minimum. A beautiful woman stood before them with one hand outstretched, slightly glowing from the spell she had just cast. "What do you think you are doing?! Show some respect in the sacred forest. There is already one traitor out there! Do we need another?!" Her breathing became steady again as she continued, "the ritual will start at sundown." A pair of men and a pair of wolves slowly got up, growled and stalked away. Of course they parted in different directions, but met up later at sundown. *** At sundown, the same beautiful woman, stood in the middle of a growing circle of darkly garbed figures. They seemed to be chanting a peculiarly solemn rythym. Slowly, yet surely the woman in the middle raised her arms and a beautiful iridescent shade of blue. She held her arms up, for what seemed like a few moments, then swiftly shot out her arm and pointed to the darkest part of the enchanted forest. In a clear, vibrant voice she commanded, "There. There lies our purpose." All at once, the darkly clothed figures moved toward the unresisting forest. Grimwülf was in the lead with his partner and quickly disappeared from the others' view. While running and tripping through the forest, they finally stumbled into a clearing, where a small semblance of a ritual had taken place. One man, dressed in grey robes was kneeling before a make-shift alter. Murmurings could be heard from the kneeling man as a very young wolf cub tried desparately hard to stand guard over him. Grimwülf stepped forward but was met by the youngcub. Athough the wolf could afflict little damage upon the big man, Grimwülf, stepped back and called out instead, "Come here, deserter! You owe us your life!" The deserter calmly finished his service, stood up and faced his opposer. "I do not owe you anything." He stated this and motioned for his young partner to follow. Grimwülf was angered by this show of disregard and uncaring. "Where do you think you are going? You have to come with me to stand trial against treason." Again the deserter slowly and calmly turned around and said, "I did not perform treason. I performed my right of stating the truth." "And what might that be? What would make you want to risk your life by resigning yourself to quit the pack?" Again the man repeated, "The truth. The truth is, is that your precious pack is all a lie. They tell you that you are out to fight evil. They tell you that you are this world's only hope, only chance of survival. But how have you been helping this world? Who are the people you are sent to kill, these so-called enemies of your god. These people are the true heroes. These people with joyful faces and hearts of hope, these people are the true heroes. What are your missions, 'this man is causing a ruckus at a nearby inn, see to it that he stops at once.' Didn't you ever stop to think that these people had a true goal in life. That this goal was to sread cheer and hope, unlike you and your disgusting pack, who kill spirit and happiness. For what, I ask you for what? SO your god can rule over these poor depressed people forever without a fight! You sicken me!" With the end of this speech came tears running down his face. Grimwülf stood stunned at what he had just heard. Was it true? He stood there, contemplating. It did make sense, all that he said it did make sense. He hesitantly asked, "How did you get your wolf to agree with you, a wolf has a special bond with our god. A bond not easily broken." "Both of us have been through many hardships. We have both passed many tests and have survived. We did it together." Grimwülf looked down at his own wolf. A deep profound sadness filled the animal's eyes. It gave a hair-raising howl and began to nod it's shaggy head. This being done, the wolf and the master joined the other pair and prepared their journey into the night and hopefully the day. |
