Rhyming tale told by the older of two preschool brothers.
Going Places

We see the animals at the zoo.
We don’t climb the fences too.
Hey, don’t run away from Dad!
You’ll get lost and that is bad.
That monkey might take you away.
And make you peel bananas all day.

At the library we must sit still.
Be quiet. Look at books until…
It’s time to go and check them out.
Shh, be quiet, you can’t shout.
We cannot run; We cannot climb.
Stay together the whole time.

At the restaurant we eat.
I drink and try to keep things neat.
I don’t throw food onto the floor.
Hey, don’t sneak through that door.
I say please and thank you, too.
I get dessert but none for you!

At the credit union we wait in line.
You have your deposit and I’ve got mine.
We don’t pull the ropes or run.
Oh, just look at what you’ve done!
Hold my hand and stay by me.
Or I’ll take you back to that monkey!

At the grocery store we ride.
In the cart, hey, stay inside!
Apples, eggs, asparagus and peas.
Hey, no, stop, don’t touch that, please!
Cereal, milk, and ice cream too.
But you be good, or none for you.

The park is just the place.
To run and swing, climb, and chase.
This is where I want to be.
I’ll chase you.
You chase me.
I love you little brother of mine.
Even if you’re bad, sometimes.
