The Nightmare

Your face
Shimmering above me.
I try and reach for you
Only to find
I'm stuck in a nightmare
Of haunting twists
And torturing turns.

The nightmare leads me
To another universe
Where you're begging for me
And I'm turning away.
Though tears in my eyes
I can't stop.

I try to tell you
Explain that I can't stand you in tears
Over a mistake I made
By turning away.
Turning away
From the love you're offering.

Maybe it was my choice to turn,
Maybe it was yours.
The dream ended
With me crying
And you begging me
To give you another chance.
I wanted to
Yet I was fighting conciousness
Trying to stop from turning,
Turning away from your sad state
Caused by me.

The nightmare ends,
Haunting dreams still follow.
An after taste
Left by a horrible effect of something unknown.
Wish I knew
Why I turned away
Then I'd tell you
That I'm sorry
And use that explaination why.

I can't.
Haunting me constantly
Is the want to know
Why I turned away.

Following Nightmares.
