Notification that my poem was not selected for publication, and the poem |
This page is something for me to think on, and work on more. Several readers have told me they got lost in my train of thought. Where's my muse? She'll be back around in time, and I can't force myself past the writer's block in this poem right now. It's not right, but I don't know how to fix it. I'm saving this "rejection letter" to encourage me to go back and work on specific areas. Posting here because I can -- just a use of cyberspace sharing if you happened to read this. Situation for sharing. . . .please don't correct any grammar, but I welcome comments by e-mail. Publishing poetry isn't easy. Writing poetry isn't easy. When it's right it's worth the effort. ---------- Forwarded message ---------- Date: 16-Nov-2004 18:24:08 -0500 From: <poetrycontest@voicesnet.com> To: <Patrice@Writing.Com> Subject: VoicesNet Poem Submission Results Dear Patricia, Recently, you participated in a quarterly international poetry competition hosted by VoicesNet, the Voices Network, at www.voicesnet.com. We judge thousands of poems each quarter from talented writers from all around the world. We are sending you this email to let you know the results of the judging of your poem. Title: "THE CONFUSION OF AWARENESS" Result: Declined for Publication - Please resubmit another poem at www.voicesnet.org/NewEntry.aspx. We want to encourage you to continue writing and submitting your poems to VoicesNet.com's regular poetry competitions. Other than the above result description, we do not provide individual judging details so please do not request any additional information. We can, though, give you some generalized suggestions that might help your future poem submissions become more acceptable to the judges: Make sure the poem is spell checked! Make sure you are using the right synonyms. Don't use all lowercase or all uppercase unless there is a point in doing so! Use a creative concept. Try different poem formats. If the poem is long, it better be really good to hold a reader's attention span. Have someone else proof the grammar in your poem if that is not your strength. Review the prior winners at the website and also review the contest guidelines again. Also, visit our Poetry Workshop Forums at www.voicesnet.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl. |
