He was wandering and lonely...searching for just a smile on a pretty face.
He was wandering and lonely in this far off place
Searching for just a smile on a pretty face
Inside he’s crying and wondering why
He feels so lonely but big boys don’t cry

Sitting there alone beneath the sky
Inside she’s crying and asking herself why
Hoping for someone to silence the pain
And searching for a way to get out of the rain

Why do I feel this urge to rush to her side
And express my feelings even time cannot hide
I must sit down beside her and ask her name
But I really doubt she would consider the same

What is this wonderful feeling
That has sent my heart reeling
It has to be his presence in this far off place
But I really doubt he even noticed my face

Two lonely people in this far off place
Who may never know the warmth of the others embrace
So lost and alone afraid to reach out
Hiding from the pain of their fear and self-doubt

I can’t just walk away she’s so beautiful and alone
If only my feelings for her could be shown
Just keep walking to her and don’t forget to smile
Maybe we can just sit and talk for awhile

He’s coming this way, Oh I hope he says, Hi
My heart is just pounding and my mouth is so dry
I’ll just smile at him and maybe he’ll see
That I would love for him to sit down and talk to me

Will he pass her by and never know if their love could be
Or just stop and sit down and say, Hello it’s me
Does this lovelorn story have a happy ending
It did until her husband returned from the bar he was tending
