Can we be satisfied with each other every day? |
It’s been raining forever Huge drops of glassy tears saturating the earth Slowly weeping down my window Gentle sobbing gives way to torrent, and the tantrum begins A translucent mirror crashes and splashes Wonder what it will be like to have you near on rainy days Should we drink it all in? Will the brilliance of the sun be anticipated, or will this be enough? On rainy nights, I hear plump kisses smack the pavement The slick, gliding swish of passing cars are the sweetest lullaby I think of you now, as the green becomes resplendent Wish I could absorb you, as the earth takes in the nectar Love to lie in open fields, and let the sky flow into me Eyes closed, serpentine repose, baptismal wetness Wonder if it’s dreary where you are now, if your thoughts are like mine Are you wishing for clouds to part, and rays to peak through? Would you prefer the rain with me, or relish the warmth of the sun That drenches the dirty ground with it’s dry and scintillant glow Would you cast out low lying grey shrouds, and lift them to allow for billowy pillows? Could you take the sullen face of the wanderer as long as my hand was safe in yours? It’s been raining here forever, and I do not miss the sun Let the water whisper on the rooftop |
