Slowly I entered the world
little by little, moment by moment
and drowsily days remained days
and time remained faithful
to a nebulous haze
that lingered and loitered
and tarried a ways.
Imperceptibly growing
and burgeoning painstakingly slow,
one, two, three became
eleven, twelve, thirteen,
but never quite there yet,
never that old.
Shaped by time present and past,
how did I get here so fast?
First grade, then college,
ten years in a day.
Some work and some play.
Successes and fears.
A day in ten years.
Who said it would last,
this life in a blast?
Slowly I breathe in,
one flux at a time,
fondling seconds,
counting what's mine.
Shaped by what is,
shaped by what's passed,
someone please tell me,
how did I get here so fast?
