If Dreams Come true

if dreams come true
there will be no more senseless wars between nations creating next generation terrorists
the simple people of oil rich countries will not have to worry about raining bombs in the night
their children can play in the fields without fear of buried landmines making them limbless
every son’s mother no longer facing sleepless nights not knowing if he will return from battle

if dreams come true
those living in starvation all over the world will know the joy of daily meals
countries will no longer destroy excess grain and produce rather then to feed the hungry
those living in poverty will not have to sell their bodies in order to feed and clothe their families
and children will not be shot for stealing a loaf of bread from the local mom and pop shop

if dreams come true
the drug mafia will no longer make billions from the weak and hopeless trying to lose reality
or create helpless junkies selling their souls for a worthless trip on one-way roads to neverland
living in an atmosphere of crime just to get a dose of plastic satisfaction that their bodies crave
never able to get that monkey off of their back that is leading them to the grave

if dreams come true
tomorrow the 6 o’clock news will report a cure has been found that completely cures AIDS
and millions of lives can be saved all over the world and that distribution is free to all mankind
no longer having to watch the melting away of loved ones to diseases we don’t understand
and that countries creating these types of viruses as weapons will no longer continue to do so

if dreams come true
racial hatred will become a thing of the past and we will live and love for internal substance
and not the external picture or clichés that people have painted on other races or cultures
and our jails will become less populated and the crime rate drops to all-time lows
and the fear of the streets becomes a thing of the past and it's safe to walk alone at night

if dreams come true
we can send our children to schools without fear of shootings during class
or some sicko stalking innocent women and children during the day and night
and people will stop killing each other over senseless situations or designer clothes
and women will top selling their bodies for strung-out wannabe pimps

if dreams come true
this could be the perfect world, the world that was planned from the beginning
a world full of love and happiness for all of us living on this humble planet
with no worries about our current daily plastic lives trying to keep up with the Jones's
that's a world that I would love to see and be a part of

it would be nice if all of these things came to pass in our lifetime
but to be honest, I think there's a better chance of winning the lottery six times in a row
and if I could, I would snap my fingers and make them happen immediately
but I'm just a guy with a dream!
