Winter time compels
Wishes for summer’s time return
Earmark waking hours

Peering through frosted edge panes of icy cold glass
Where once fragrant, freshly mowed, lush green lawns lay
Just memories, now blanketed in contrasting shades of winter white

Crystal clear icicles drape
Every bough about to break
Beneath frozen watery weight

Outside the blistery winds wail
Inside warmly waiting
Summer’s time return

Inside comfortably cool waiting
