I am a Washington, D.C., print journalist who's exploring poetry late in life. I also write creative nonfiction and humor pieces. I grew up outside of Philadelphia and spent a lot of time at the Jersey shore, where I developed a love of sailing. My sailing, like my writing, is not necessarily any good, and both have occasioned me embarrassment. My poetry has been spurred by love, divorce and alcoholism, mostly the latter two. My outlook on life is not as bleak as it might appear in my poetry; in fact, getting the negative emotions out does me good.
