Summary of this Book...
If you've seen the television show "Dexter," you know what you're in for. If not, Dexter is a serial killer who kills bad guys. He is also a lab tech for the Miami Police Department. He does his best to live a "normal" life in order to hide his dark secret. In this first book, a series of murders closely resemble Dexter's own killings, and he begins to think this new killer is trying to communicate with him.
This type of Book is good for...
Fans of the show will enjoy the book (This book covers the first season of the show), but also crime/serial killer enthusiasts will enjoy the insight into a killer's mind. Dexter is a sociopath who tries to emulate the human emotions he sees in other human beings in order to fit in.
I especially liked... | ||
The amount of detail in the book surpasses the show. Many will say that the show has more because they took the first book and stretched it out across many episodes, adding much more to the story. However, I think the book takes a much closer look into the mind of Dexter. I felt like I knew the character more in the book than on the show.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
continue reading the next book in the series.
I recommend this Book because...
It's a unique look into the mind of a sociopath who happens to be the GOOD guy in the books. Dexter only kills other killers. Some might say he does this to avoid being caught, but Dexter has a sort of moral code of his own, taught to him by his cop father who realized at a young age that his son wasn't quite like the rest of humankind.
Further Comments... | ||
This series is probably not for everyone. If you enjoy crime, though, and don't mind delving into a dark, disturbing mind, you just might enjoy the Dexter series.
