This type of Book is good for...
Runners, beginners as well as seasoned pros, can learn from this book! (If you're a beginner, you should probably look into a shorter distance, though, like a 5k.) If you're looking into training for a half-marathon, this is a perfect book to read to get an idea of how to do it and the amount of training required to do it safely.
I especially liked... | ||
I love the run-walk-run method. For some reason, runners feel the need to never stop running. Galloway shows that taking a short walking break, though, during a training run and a race will help your muscles recover and may actually help your overall time!
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
start running! While I haven't yet reached the half-marathon distance (13.1 miles), I did use this method to run a 10k (6.2 miles). I noticed after each walking break that I was able to run faster.
The author of this Book...
Jeff Galloway is an Olympic runner, a best-selling author, an inspirational speaker and a Runner's World columnist, and his training method has an over 98% success rate!
Further Comments... | ||
Even if you don't believe in taking walking breaks during distance running, it's worth it to read this book to get an insight into one very successful runner/trainer's program and ideas on running.
