Summary of this Book...
In Cedar Cove, the sheriff Troy Davis lives at 92 Pacific Boulevard after his wife’s death. Succumbing to his daughter Megan’s antics, Troy had broken off his relationship with his first and real love Faith Beckwith. Faith is now back in town, and their renewed relationship as friends is not satisfactory to both Faith and Troy. But now, Megan has made a one hundred-eighty degree turn and is encouraging his father’s relationship with Faith. What caused Megan’s change of heart is lost to the reader, except for the flimsy reason that she thought it over.

Paralleling the yo-yo relationship of Troy and Faith, at least two other couples’ stories are told in the novel with the same lack-a-daisical attitude. The hope for the subplots of Faith’s home being repeatedly vandalized and the finding of human remains in a cave have also failed, for me, to bring animation to this story at the end, as both incidents are explained with reasons that might have proven to be true in real life but hold no dramatic effect in fiction. In fact, their resolutions stay on surface like slick oil on water.

On the plus side, the writing flows very well with good word choices and a clear style of expression. Also, some but not all female characters are portrayed convincingly.

This type of Book is good for...
passing a peaceful time but gaining nothing, no insight, even distantly related to good literature. Reading Debbie Macomber is like eating comfort food. It may calm your appetite and appease you without being good for you, like French fries or a too oily pizza slice.
I didn't like...
how this book repeats what this writer's other books offer.
This Book made me feel...
upset for losing precious time with 400 pages of incessant chitchat.
The author of this Book...
Debbie Macomber has numerous bestsellers, 63 by one count. She has won "readers' choice" Quill Award for Romance Fiction, the RITA Award, and a Romantic Times BOOKreviews Career Achievement Award.

Of her recent books are: 8 Sandpiper Way, 74 Seaside Avenue,Debbie Macomber's Cedar Cove Cookbook, Twenty Wishes, A Cedar Cove Christmas, Summer on Blossom Street, The Perfect Christmas.
Further Comments...
I neither recommend nor not recommend this book.

I know this author has many followers who love this type of easy fiction, what is called chick-lit or women's fiction, and I remember enjoying Macomber's first book A Good Yarn on Blossom Street series. Although I haven't read all Macomber books, I am suspecting the following work by this writer, after A Good Yarn, to be the lesser repetitions of that success.

In short, read at your own risk. *Smile*
