The writing style. The writing is technically correct (with an exception of an incorrect apostrophe use late in the novella), but it is far too formal for my taste. | ||

I got the e-book when it was offered for free. I would have been upset to pay $2.99 for a mediocre 38-page short story. | ||

Maybe it gets better, but I don't want to take the risk of paying for more of the series in case the writing style stays the same as the first. | ||
