Summary of this Book...
Goddess of the Moon tells of the undertaking of a psychic, Diana Racine, and her police-detective lover, Ernie Lucier, to catch and bring to justice a satanic cult composed of very powerful men in the society. Due to Diana's psychic powers, the cult has targeted her because the cult's leaders want to use her, to make her serve as a breeder and be worshipped by the cult's followers as their goddess of the moon.

The general theme is good versus evil, and the setting of the story is New Orleans, with references to well-known places like the Café du Monde and Jackson Square, plus the entire French Quarter and surrounding areas.

The main characters are portrayed well, but some of the secondary characters act like cliché puppets. This, however, may be partly because of the needs of the plot for villainous characters.

The plot is layered with unexpected twists and turns and perverse family relationships, since the cult is trying to create a master race by inbreeding and stealing the newborn babies of intellectually superior people from the southern states.

In search for an inventive ploy, the writer of the book, Polly Iyer, has inserted mythological names for the characters and has given them life stories similar to their legends in mythology. Entertaining though this approach may be, in my opinion, it has taken away from the gravity of the plot, gravity being the idea of creating a master race like that of Hitler.

Yet, the story is a page-turner, full of suspense, and I had fun reading it.

This type of Book is good for...
reading mysteries for entertainment.
I especially liked...
the setting.
The n/a of this Book...
Polly Iyer, who also writes spicy romances under the penname Maryn Sinclair, was born and raised in Massachusetts, graduating from Massachusetts College of Art and Design.
Her books on mystery, other than the Diana racine series, are Hooked, Insight, Murder Déjà Vu, and Threads.
I recommend this Book because...
it is a good mystery with a hint of the unknown and makes one want to keep on reading.
