Summary of this Book...
This is a novel about a Dublin Ireland woman who thinks she has a happy marriage. Her husband basically treats her like a servant. They have been married a long time with two sons and have gotten comfortable. One day the wife takes the husband to the airport for a "business" trip. He forgets his cell phone in the car and she rushes into the airport to take it to him, only to see him passionately embracing a young colleague. They board a flight to Cork (he originally lied and said he was going on a business trip to Brussels).

The wife (Francesca) knows exactly where he is going in Cork - it is a favorite romantic getaway spot for them. She follows on a later flight and confronts them in their suite.

The novel is about Francesca finding her way to a new life. The husband is a total bollocks. The writer gets the reader to care about Francesca from the get go. It was engaging reading.
This type of Book is good for...
anyone who likes an engaging romance set in Ireland. Ms. Scanlan is one of the top writers in her country.
I especially liked...
the fact that she didn't jump into another relationship. I like that she is cautious.
I didn't like...
the title as the party is about five pages at the end of the book. The party is the climax and confrontation center (although there are plenty of engaging confrontations throughout).
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read more by Ms. Scanlan. I was sick and needed to rest and the book kept me busy doing just that. I enjoyed it.
The author of this Book...
knows how to tell a story and get you to care about her characters. In that way, she is a lot like Danielle Steel, only set in Ireland.
I recommend this Book because...
it entertained me greatly to read the confrontations. I was rooting for Francesca all the way, although I did not support one of her decisions, I liked the way that ended to - not to give away plot elements in the remoo.
