Andrew Alexander fled England and the woman he loved, thinking he had to right to desire her. He returns, believing that Astrid is safely married to someone else, to find her recently widowed and pregnant. Her life seemingly in danger, Andrew agrees to remain until the birth of her child, but protecting her involves far more than just his proximity.

This story has redeemed Grace Burrowes, in my eyes. The story of Andrew's brother, Gareth, was a disappointment. This one still contained some flaws, but the characters were much more endearing, and their story kept me reading.
