Summary of this Book...
This novel was the first one written by F. Scott Fitzgerald. It is about a shallow young man, named Amory Blaine and his adventures as Princeton student, and afterwards. Everything in his life revolves around romance, but he is incapable of making anything work. He becomes enchanted and disenchanted with a number of women, but Rosalind holds his interest primarily because she dumps him for a prosperous, successful young man. Amory wanders around aimlessly and is far from successful, although he does seem to have some nice impulses at times.
I didn't like... | ||
I didn't like this book. I thought it was boring and not of the same caliber of The Great Gatsby. I must have read it in college, but none of it came back to me.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
read the biography of Fitzgerald to see what was what. I saw something on Amazon that he wrote this during the time that Zelda dumped him. So, I am thinking Zelda is meant to be Rosalind.
This Book made me feel...
like something happened to Fitzgerald between this book and The Great Gatsby that turned him into a heck of a writer.
I don't recommend this Book because...
I thought it was boring, dated and dopey.
Further Comments... | ||
I think maybe if I was a contemporary of Fitzgerald's who attended Princeton, I might get this book. But I am not and I just don't get it.
