Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the story of the 2nd President of the United States, who was also the father of the 6th President of the United States. I learned a lot about John Adams in this 7 part miniseries. It stars Paul Giamatti as John Adams and Laura Linney as his wife, Abigail. They were the first couple to live in the White House, but it wasn't finished at the time they moved in. It was just a big house in the woods with a lot of plaster and dust.
This type of DVD is good for...
learning about one of the Founding Fathers. I learned that he was sent as the U.S.'s first ambassador to England after winning the Revolutionary War. I also learned that two of his children and his wife predeacesed him. He had a long friendship with Thomas Jefferson that was broken when Jefferson beat him out in the election of 1800. But Adams and Jefferson reconciled and had a lively correspondence until they both died on the same day - July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
I especially liked... | ||
Paul Giamatti. I will always think of him when I think of President Adams. It was a very good cast.
I didn't like... | ||
the jerky camera work that went on at times. I do not know why Directors do that, when they have a good story to tell. It makes me feel a little queasy to watch it. Luckily it was not a constant throughout.
The cast of this DVD... | ||
is excellent. David Morse is really good as George Washington, too.
I recommend this DVD because...
you will learn a lot from it if you do not know a lot about the Revolution that was the start of the United States.
