Summary of this DVD... | ||
This DVD is clips of traditional Irish Music performances from the 1960's to the 1980's from Irish TV. It is all music. I got it for Mr. hooves for Christmas and we watched the whole thing on Christmas Eve. We love traditional Irish music and there are some gems on this, including an early performance by Tommy Makem. He looks so young here that we could hardly believe it, having seen him in person ourselves several times over the years. This song was filmed at least ten years before the first time we saw him. Also, Chieftains Paddy Maloney and Matt Malloy are featured in performances, looking unbelievably young. There is plenty of dancing and music on this wonderful DVD. We were not disappointed and will enjoy it, I'm sure, for many years to come!
This type of DVD is good for...
any one who loves traditional Irish music, both instrumental and with vocals. We like both, but are not that wild about the dancing. What we do not like is slick, overproduced mass marketing of Irish music. There is none of that here.
I especially liked... | ||
Luke Kelly and Tommy Makem.
When I finished viewing this DVD I wanted to...
watch it again and we will do that very soon.
I recommend this DVD because...
if you like Celtic music and can't get enough of traditional performances, this is the DVD for you!
