Summary of this Book...
David Rainwater is Ella Barron’s lodger in her small lodging house. Ella Barron has several problems she is bravely trying to take care of, such as being left by a coward of a husband, making enough money to run the house, and taking care of her disabled son Solly. From the descriptions of his actions, Solly is autistic, although such a diagnosis was not made during the depression era, the storytime of this novel. To say more on the story would spoil the enjoyment of its amazing plot.

The novel may be a romance-love tale, but there are several secondary themes that are quite powerful, such as racial prejudice, self-sacrifice, and compassion. The historical aspects are expertly shown both through character actions and descriptions. The ending of the story, I never saw coming. It had one of the best twists I’ve ever read in any other book of its kind.

The story shines with the depiction of Rainwater, a perfect hero and a Christ figure, no less. In real life, we can, rarely if ever, come across such a hero like Rainwater, but still reading this novel made me enjoy the fantasy of meeting one. This is the best book I’ve read by Sandra Brown, and it far surpasses her earlier work. After Rainwater, I will gladly look into reading her other novels published after 2010.
I especially liked...
the literary factor in this book, that I hadn't seen in this author's earlier work, although it was only a few books I had read.
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
read her books published after this one.
The n/a of this Book...
is Sandra Brown, a well-known, prolific author with about fifty books in print.
I recommend this Book because...
I thought the story and the characters were amazing, and it shows that the more we write the more we improve.
