Summary of this DVD... | ||
This is the true story of five young, idealistic nurses from Australia and New Zealand who go off to serve in World War I, supporting troops at Gallipoli first and later in France. They see a lot of action, terrible wounding and hardship as it is not the romantic adventure they anticipate when they started out. Relationships are created, tested and destroyed as war time drags on and women are seperated and then reunited as the war winds down. This was wonderfully staged and acted. I cannot say enough good about it - we got it on Netflix disks. I may end up buying it to watch again because it was just that good. It totally exceeded my expectations and the performances by the women were phenomenal. I learned a lot and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. I found out about it in a preview for something else that we watched recently. The only actor who was familiar to me was Dustin Clare from McLeod's Daughters. He was wonderful in this as Harry Moffitt.
This type of DVD is good for...
anyone who might want to learn more about World War I and Australia and New Zealand's roles in the conflict.
I especially liked... | ||
that I was engaged as a viewer and I learned a lot too.
I didn't like... | ||
all the gore and bloodshed, but it is needed to tell the story accurately. It was gross, there is no getting around that part.
I recommend this DVD because...
it was thoroughly enjoyable all the way through.
