Summary of this Book...
This is a novel with an interesting premise. Scientists want to find a planet that is inhabitable and Earth-like. They found one that is habitable but unpleasant, and a new team awakens near another planet to explore and decide if it is habitable. Not only is it beautiful and habitable for humans, but it is rich in flora and fuana... and entirely unexpected, there is an alien civilization already living there.
This type of Book is good for...
Honestly, I would recommend this for fans only. I have read around 30 Foster novels and generally enjoy his work. The writing itself is never mesmerizing, but the stories are fun. In this case, the writing was pretty terrible. You can see more about that in my most recent newsletter: "Action/Adventure Newsletter (April 27, 2016)" It was nearly impossible to get through this book. The general dryness was a problem, and the lack of characterization (usually one of Foster's strengths) just left me frustrated. In short, it isn't worth reading unless you just... want to read Foster's books regardless of quality.
I don't recommend this Book because...
It just isn't very good. I recommend starting with The Damned trilogy or something. Same type of alien-encounter, much tighter writing.
