Carry On Abroad is part of a British franchise, mostly of low budget films. There were 31 Carry On films produced between 1958-1992. They are one of the most popular series of films in British history. Carry On Abroad was film #24 in the series. It was released in 1972 by The Rank Organisation.

Carry On Abroad had a large cast of primary characters, approximately 10-12, who went on vacation from London to Elsbels through a travel agency. The hotel the agency booked was not completed yet and thus throughout the movie there were moments of construction people peering in through the roof, guests falling off balconies, and incomplete closet walls allowing a view into the neighboring room. The general story simply shows how everything goes wrong with the vacation, including everyone getting arrested.

This DVD is good for people who like older British cinema, double entendres, and low-brow humor.

I'd previously watched a show ranking the top 10 Carry Ons. (This one ranked #2.) It said the beach scene was all filmed in a "carpark." I was really impressed with how they were able to make it look like a real beach.

It was a little more low-brow and sexy than I prefer. They showed a few body parts and there were people in their underwear a lot. Also, the movie was basically one sexual innuendo after another. I appreciate the talent that went into the writing and acting, but it's not my style of movie.

The cast was very talented and did an excellent job.

I recommend this DVD if it's your style of humor because they did a great job with it.
