Summary of this Book...
Andy McGee and his soon-to-be-wife Vicky undertook a government sanctioned drug experiment while in college during the late '60's, only to find out later just what the consequences of that experiment would be. Now their daughter, Charlie, has a consequence of her own from that experiment: she can set things on fire using only her mind! Now a government agency, known as The Shop, wants Charlie for themselves, and after a murderous pursuit that leaves Vicky dead, the father and daughter now find themselves on the run across the country.
This type of Book is good for...
Anybody who loves Stephen King. This is one of his first books, and one of this reader's favorites. It's also been made into a movie starring Drew Barrymore as 8 year old Charlie.
I especially liked... | ||
The action. It doesn't stop throughout the entire book, leading up to a very satisfying, albeit sad, ending.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Go out and buy another Stephen King book. It's no wonder he's known as the 'King' Of Horror!
This Book made me feel...
Great. Without giving away the ending, let's just say that The Shop gets what's coming to them at the end.
The author of this Book...
As I've said, Stephen King is a one of a kind storyteller, and there's nobody better as far as I'm concerned.
I recommend this Book because...
Anybody interested in what happened during those real experimental tests in the 60's would be interested in this.
Further Comments... | ||
Times have changed since King originally wrote this, and our trust in our own government has gone downhill ever since then. The idea of using American citizens as guinea pigs for their own self-interests is ludicrous, to say the least. This book truly is not that far from the real truth of what could happen, or what might have already happened!
