This is a fun, paranormal cozy mystery story about a magical family bookstore with a talking raven, intuitive cat and books that give crime solving help through poetic messages.

Book lovers, animal lovers, fans of paranormal and cozy mystery stories.

The characterization. My favorite characters were Violet, the heroine, her grandma Daisy, Chief Rainwater and the bouncy young lady whose shop is across the street from the magical book store.

That the heroine still apparently has feelings for Nathan, even after he sold her out and got her arrested as a teenager. But I guess the author wants her to have two potential love interests for a while.

Apparently has been writing cozy mysteries for a long time and this isn't even her only series.

It was a fun read.

I borrowed the paperback copy of this book from my library. The cover looks very different from that of the Amazon book but I like this paperback cover better. It's of the inside of the bookstore and has the tuxedo cat perched on the winding spiral wooden staircase with a part of the special tree that grows inside the store showing.

Note: I rate books according to my experience in their category. For cozy mysteries, this is a fantastic book. It doesn't, however, compare to a Lisa Gardner Thriller or a Sharon Sala romantic suspense book.
