Summary of this Book...
This is a fantastic little book about mindful eating. It also goes far beyond that and into compassionate eating and eating to save our planet. Thich Nhat Hahn also shares stories from his life as a Buddhist monk and some of the challenges he had that he turned into opportunities for mindfulness. It's essentially a collection of mini essays, most of which are great to read and contemplate on their own. Rather than just reading it straight through, I think this is a nice little book to savor, essay by essay.
This type of Book is good for...
Anyone who wants to eat more mindfully and isn't put off by Buddhist teachings.
I especially liked... | ||
The "bound by a hundred strings" essay. It was a new way of thinking for me and I can apply it to other parts of my life. Here's a quote: "If you eat but you are bound by a hundred strings of worries, anger, irritation, stress, and projects, then these one hundred strings are pulling you in one hundred directions...have the intention that whenever you eat, you eat in freedom."
When I finished n/a this Book I wanted to...
Make little reminder signs of some of the quotes and post them where I eat (sadly, the book was due back the library so I didn't get to do that but maybe I'll check it out again or even buy a copy).
This Book made me feel...
Interested yet more mindful.

I borrowed the paperback copy of this book from my library, through interlibrary loan. I used the Kindle Amazon link because I couldn't find an Amazon code in the paperback version.
