This is a great resource if you're new to acreage or homesteading. The information is clearly laid out and well-organized. I didn't find it to be particularly in-depth, but I don't think it's meant to be - it covers the basics and the possibilities of what you can do with what you have, it lays out how it would look if you did it, it gives you a few options to make it happen, it gives you the basics of equipment, time, and success. To go into the full homesteading venture, you'd likely need to venture out into more specific in-depth books to suit your particular needs. But as a starting point, this is bang-on. If you're already a gardener, you probably have some books you can lean on, and this one will help you do the overall set-up. The one thing I didn't like about the book was the seemingly endless "what you can do with your harvest" parts. It felt like it should have been a list, not entire pages on pages of recipes. That space could have been devoted to more of the detail other readers were looking for, and the recipes really could have their own book. They didn't interest me at all - I have recipe books already - but overall this book is well worth the money and earned a place on my resource shelf. | ||
