Summary of this Book...
This is book five of Cass's #1 New York Times Bestselling series, "The Selection" and continues the story of Eadlyn Shreave's royal husband search. The major thing that happened at the end of the last book apparently caused Eadlyn to grow up a lot and her character was a lot more likeable in this book. There were some surprises among her "Elite" (final 6 suitors) in the Selection and two outside suitors (which is not allowed by their laws but one truly loved her and the heart wants what it wants and ***spoiler - skip to next section if you don't want a spoiler**** the other was an evil schemer). Oddly, I found the last book more romantic, but in this book I liked the heroine more.
This type of Book is good for...
People who like alternate futures, royal stories, romance, the Bachelor/Bachelorette, young adult stories, and/or interesting stories.
I especially liked... | ||
That Eadlyn matured and became humble, mostly gracious, yet didn't lose her sense of self. I liked the romantic ending and was happy with who she ended up choosing. I loved finding out who Lady Brice was (a lose end from the previous book who became a stronger character in this one) and I really liked Henri's communications just before Eadlyn's announcement of her selected fiance. I also liked how Josie became more likeable. I liked how Eadlyn accepted Hale's surprising news and did her best by him and the other person it involved.
I didn't like... | ||
More giggling (if you read my review of the last book it was excessive and ridiculous).. even if it wasn't as bad as the last book. The Epilogue. I guess it was clever in that it drew the beginning of the previous book and the end of this book together but I would have preferred a wedding or happily ever after kind of scene... something romantic. I felt like there needed to be one more great scene with Eadlyn and her selectee and I didn't get it.
When I finished reading this Book I wanted to...
Read the Janet Evanovich book I saw the library has waiting for me. It's a total change of pace. Though I did enjoy this book! I'm just reading for something different now, after two in a row in this series.
This Book made me feel...
Very glad Eadlyn grew up and became more personable. Like maybe I was a good friend hearing all of her thoughts. So, part of the story but on the sideliness. I couldn't relate to her enough to feel like I was her.
The author of this Book...
From Amazon: "Kiera Cass is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Selection series and The Siren. She is a wife and mom and too many other things to list. If she could make a crown out of anything, it would be the unending tears of her readers. You can learn more about Kiera and her books at www.kieracass.com."
